In Which Books Are Portals

"I love books. I love that moment when you open one and sink into it; you can escape from the world, into a story that's way more interesting than yours will ever be." --Elizabeth Scott

Some of my best friends have come from books. They have shown me comfort in times of trouble, and given me advice when I am lost. Books are but passages into another world, a place for us to escape when we no longer wish to linger in our own stories. All we must do is open a book, and our troubles disappear--at least for the time being--as we delve into a tale of adventure, and live vicariously through fictional characters.

I can't wait to begin reading these books, which I just received for Christmas :) It will be an amazing experience, with only a cup of hot coffee by my side to anchor me to the real world. Imagination is a wonderful thing, isn't it?

In Which We Celebrate A Mad Tea Party...

"A very merry unbirthday to you!" -- The Mad Hatter

Merry Christmas, everyone! The two items shown below are two of the things I got for Christmas, and I thought they would make a lovely picture. I attached a quote from Alice because I thought it would pair delightfully.

We should all make a New Year's resolution to celebrate our own unbirthdays more often--to enjoy everyday life, whether it's Christmas or not :)

And I will certainly remember this day! After all, I have the key to memory :)

In Which We Whistle While We Work...

"Whistle while you work." --Snow White

It's always important to take a leaf out of Snow's book, and make the best of every situation. She even makes cleaning fun!

P.S....Yes, I did draw that picture :)

In Which a Nutcracker Takes up Room in our Hearts

"Sometimes the smallest things take up the most room in your heart." --Pooh Bear

What a wise little bear! And especially during the Christmas season, this statement is doubly true. Seeing this little Nutcracker makes my heart sing because to me, it represents the Christmas season and encompasses the holidays :) Just a small thing--a trinket, really--but it puts a smile on my face.

What little thing fills up your heart?

Appreciate the little things.

In Which we Discuss Cinderella and Dreaming

"All our dreams can come true if only we have the courage to pursue them." --Walt Disney.

This rings true for all of us. Don't shy away from your dream, but embrace it. After all, as Cinderella would say, a dream is a wish your heart makes, so you should not deny yourself what your heart longs for. Take a look at my buddy Walt. He made millions off of his beloved imagination, immortalizing his creations in a theme park that continues to prosper decades after his death. He was not afraid to pursue his dream, no matter the obstacles that may have prevented him from reaching his goal.

Never relinquish your dreams, for they are the most beloved parts of our souls, and make us who we are. (Plus, I just wanted to quote Walt Disney, as he's my idol.) :D

In Which we Discuss Adventures, Tea, and Peter Pan

"Would you like an adventure now, or shall we have our tea first?" --Peter Pan

Peter was wise for a kid. We can all learn from his words--that if tea can't fix it, you are in serious trouble, and adventures can always wait till after teatime :)

Off to Neverland! But....after I finish my English breakfast tea and vanilla bean scones :)
